Two weeks after the recent Nato summit the question of the direction of the Alliance in the future remains open: will Nato take on new priorities, or continue to be concentrated on tensions with Russia? U.S. President Donald Trump has called for a change, to focus attention first of all on terrorism, and also issues such as immigration. Moroever, the emphasis on the level of financial contribution has created obbvious tensions with European nations. Spain’s Deputy Minister of Defense Agustin Conde has even tried to turn the tables on Trump, claiming that the United States should pay more for the Nato budget, based on the size of its economy.
